Observation 4.11 August 22, 2004 Ah, the dog days of summer. It's been a real dry one, too....NOT! I hate this - I have to mow the lawn about once a week - usually this late in the summer, I can go weeks without mowing it....yes, I'm that lazy. Just got back from vacation, about a week ago, actually. Sue, Lisa and I went down to the Outer Banks, and had a marvelous time....with the exception of dodging hurricanes, but that wasn't until the end of the week. We had a place in Kill-Devil Hills....that's a great name for the town, by the way. I guess the names "Mass-murderville" and "Homicide Junction were taken already. Our house was great - about 2 blocks from the beach, it had 3 bedrooms, 3 decks, cable, 2 bathrooms, and a dvd player. We must've watched "Not Another Teen Movie" like 8 times. What a great flick. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest that you do. Randy Quaid is hilarious in the movie. We kept rewinding to the scene where the girl falls through the steps - Quaid's response was hysterical (can I get any more "h" adjectives in this piece?" We spent most of the week hanging on the beach, and eating seafood. The place to go down there, if you ever decide to vacation there, is Dirty Dick's... yes, that's right. The motto is, "I got my crabs from Dirty Dick's," and yes, I have a t-shirt with that on it. I fished only once, and I wish I could've done more, but that's o.k. I got to read a wrestling magazine, a fantasy football magazine, and some toilet humor book (my favorite books usually are described this way). I also did a lot of swimming, and I'll tell ya what, I think I may have been the best body surfer out there. My secret is the big belly that I have, and the waxed back (it streamlines me). Isn't it funny how quickly vacations go by, and how slowly work days go by? I wish it was the other way around....as long as I still had fun on vacation. I guess my next "vacation" will be labor day weekend. I have to get my car inspected, so I'm taking that Friday off. Also, I think I have to repave my driveway, so it'll be quite a weekend. But at least I'll be having a barbecue that Saturday, and hopefully the Penn State home opener will be televised. If you aren't doing anything, stop by. Would you like to see other observations?
