The Bratwurst once again were able to drive the ball down field, and took a surprising 17-0 lead on the defending champions with a short touchdown run by LaDanian Tomlinson.
The Prowlers, struck back, abandoning the running game and opening up the passing game, and quickly drove down field. Irv Bever, a potential rookie of the year candidate, was able to plunge in for a touchdown to narrow the score to 17-7 before the half.
