Berlin, Germany - The Crusaders of Cobb's Crik waltzed into Berlin and beat the Bratwurst up and down the field, ending Berlin's impressive winning streak, 35-23. The game,
at times was closer than the score indicated, but Berlin shot itself in the foot one too many times, with a game-breaking kickoff return fumble,
that put the Crusaders ahead to stay.
Berlin was slow to start, as the Crusaders capitalized on a Drew Brees interception, scoring a touchdown with the advantage of the short
field. The Crusaders forced the Bratwurst to punt, and scored early in the second quarter, extending the lead to 14-0. Berlin did answer on
a 57-yard touchdown pass from Brees to Dez Bryce, and that's how the score stayed until half-time.
Berlin was able to add another 3 points in the third quarter, but Donovan McNabb was able to pick apart the defense in the air and ground,
extending the lead to 21-10 to start the fourth quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Berlin showed one of its glaring weaknesses by fumbling. The
Crusaders once again took charge and extended the lead to 28-10 with about 5 minutes to play.
The never-say-die Bratwurst were able to respond, on a brilliant touchdown pass from Brees to Boston, cutting the lead to 28-17. The defense
forced the Crusaders to punt, and Berlin was once again able to drive the field and cut the lead to 28-23, with the two point conversion failing. A missed
on-side kick with a little over two-minutes to go, sealed the game, as the Bratwurst were unable to halt the Crusaders.
