Week 18 Scoreboard:
Berlin, Ger. - Another drubbing ocurred between the Berlin Bratwurst and the Prospect Park Prowlers, but this time roles were reversed. Unlike last season, where Berlin was embarrassed on four occasions against the rival Prowlers, Berlin exacted a dose of revenge, beating Prospect Park 43-21. Berlin struck first with a long, calculated drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Dez Bryce. On the Prowlers' first possession, Tommy Maddox threw an interception, and Berlin was able to get 3 to take an early 10-0 lead. On the Prowlers' next possesion, they were unable to move the ball, and punted to Berlin. The Bratwurst once again were able to drive the ball down field, and took a surprising 17-0 lead on the defending champions with a short touchdown run by LaDanian Tomlinson. The Prowlers, struck back, abandoning the running game and opening up the passing game, and quickly drove down field. Irv Bever, a potential rookie of the year candidate, was able to plunge in for a touchdown to narrow the score to 17-7 before the half. But, Berlin also struck through the air to restore the 17 point lead with just over a minute to go in the first half with a brilliant pass from Drew Brees to Stephen Alexander. The Prowlers were hoping to score another touchdown before the half, but were unable to move the ball. Berlin, with 3 timeouts remaining, moved the ball within field goal range, and took a surprising 27-7 lead into the half. The Prowlers were unable to move the football to start the second half, and punted the ball to Berlin. The Bratwurst's surprising offense move the ball efficiently up the field once again, and Drew Brees found Dez Bryce in the endzone again to electrify the Berlin crowd, and extend the Bratwurst lead to 34-7. Prospect Park finally regained some composure, and were able to move up the field rather quickly through the air again, and make the score 34-14. Not to be outdone, Prospect Park's defense forced Berlin to punt, and even though the punt went to the 9-yard line, the Prowlers were able to move the ball up the field quickly and make it a two-touchdown game early in the 4th quarter. Berlin was able to put a nice drive together, converting on several third downs, and draining nearly 4 minutes off the clock before LaDanian Tomlinson scored his second touchdown of the game, and putting the game out of reach. Berlin added a safety with just over 1 minute to play, making the final score 43-21.
