Week 12 Bandits Bamboozle Brats...Barely
Dietz and Watson Stadium, Berlin, Ger: Boontown had a taste of the high life as they traveled to beautiful Berlin for the eagerly anticipated matchup of defenses. Unfortunately, the defenses didn't rise to the occasion. The Bandits jumped out to an early 24-7 lead, thanks to some great passing plays by Drew Bledsoe, and a huge rushing touchdown by Travis Henry. Berlin was able to tack on another 3 right before the half. The second half was a different story for Berlin, as they quickly made the Boondock lead evaporate, largely due to Drew Brees' arm. The teams traded touchdowns, making it 31-31 midway through the fourth quarter. The Bandits were able to relive the first half success, driving and scoring on another run by Travis Henry, making it 38-31. Berlin, with just over a minute left, drove into Boondock territory, but the drive ended on one of the few Brees mistakes of the game. Coach Grieb Press Conference Our defense has been sub-par the last few weeks, and we need to figure out what the problem is. I thought our offense played well for the most part, but we started off too slow. Give credit to Coach Neff, he was able to run and pass at will against us for most of the game. We need to regroup. This one hurt. Question 1: What does this do to your playoff hopes? Coach Grieb - We are still in the driver's seat, but it sounds like our transmission is going. I want our defense to regain its form, and come out more hungry. Question 2: Have teams figured out your defense? Coach Grieb - I think it would be hard for them to do so, because we throw so many formations at teams in different situations. I'll have to look at the tapes. Question 3: How will you turn things around against the Twisters? Coach Grieb - I can't give specifics, but we need our defense to come back strong.
